Hey-ho! It's been a while since my last blogpost, particularly the one that I wrote in English. This time I just want to share about my not-so-new interest on vinyl records. I want to collect them because I love music and I always want to thank you for it (just like ABBA's song).
Few years ago I found out about a form of physical record that's really special, exclusive and everlasting, which is the vinyl. I had some cassettes and CDs when I was a student. I still have few of them now, eventhough I don't have any compatible music player to spin it. Thankfully there's CD room in my MacBook so I was able to play the CDs and ripped it to my iTunes library.
Back to vinyl, my interest is growing since I become a fan of vintage and old style band and musician, such as White Shoes & The Couples Company and Lana Del Rey. Both artists release their albums in vinyls. Somehow, I feel like holding their vinyl records will give indescribable satisfaction to me. Yes, I want 'em!
However, my logic tried to stop me several times. Because this kind of hobby surely is expensive. A vinyl record costs about half a million rupiahs. Besides, I have to buy a vinyl player or turntable which costs about three times of the vinyl itself. Wew!

My first vinyl, The Emancipation of Mimi (2005) 15th Anniversary Edition (2020 Pressing) |
Long story short, I decided to go for it and start to buy my first vinyl record, which is one of my favorite albums all time, Mariah Carey's The Emancipation of Mimi. After that, I also bought my another favorite album, Born to Die from Lana Del Rey.

My second vinyl, Born to Die (Deluxe Edition) |
There's several reasons which finally made me to spend my money for it. The main reason is because I have enough spare money (due to pandemic situation I rarely spend my money for travel or fancy dining). Second reason, actually I just spent my money for several things (mostly for necessities and family business). Then, I feel like it's okay for me to use my money to please myself and start a new hobby - vinyl collecting.
